Email AND a video chat, unprecedented!




Monday -Today we got up early and got ready, my comp and I left for 4 caminos, this place where all the buses leave! Anyways met up with our district and walked like 3 miles to a trial, then we started our hike we hiked about 2 miles to these waterfalls, the waterfall was huge!! And really cool to see!! I loved it and it was a fun time with the district, we then got lunch after and it was really good. WE came back to our area and got a little cat nap, then we went and wrote our families! It went really good, it was a great time, my comp is ready to go home and is getting called stuff all figured out and it is pretty funny! But Im scared for when its my turn. We then went to this members house and shared a little thought about having faith!
Tuesday- We got up and visited a couple investigators in the morning and that went really good, we strengthened their testimonies and we helped them learn more. We then went to lunch and after lunch met with this member that has been struggling with drinking, we helped him and listened to him, it went really well and we made goals and plans with him! We then met with our fav member diego, it was his wife's birthday and we helped him get everything ready for a surprise party, we bought a cake for her and we made some food from Peru for like 25 people, we did not think we would have enough but there was barely enough, it was awesome!! IT was a really good night!! We shared a spiritual thought at the end and contacted a few members of her family that were not members! Crazy!!Awesome!
Wednesday- Today we got up and all went to a meeting in centro about what's going to be happening with all the wars and everything going on, and then came back and finished our studies and we had divisions, I got to go with my old comp from last change, Elder Cuc, it was great to catch up with him and work with him again. We visited a couple of members and then went to lunch, then it started pouring rain!! After lunch we knocked on a few doors and found some really positive people it was awesome, and we contacted them and shared something with them. Later we went with our investigator Miguel and taught him L1 and it went really good, he understood and wants to get baptized he just is scared with his wife and everything, but we will keep working with him! As soon as we left his house and huge storm came by, the rain was like hurricane rain, I swear so so so much… like you guys have no idea haha!! We are soaked head to toe, and met with a member after walking a mile, it went good, we shared a spiritual thought about Faith and then we came back to the house and we did some studies at night! It was a great day other than that we got soaked!
Thursday- Today we got up and had to leave to Xela early in the morning! We had our Zone conference, and it went really good, it was fun and we learned a lot of stuff, we have a lot of good goals that we put! And I can't wait, it was good to see some good friends in the mission and we then came back to our area and we worked a little bit at night and that went really good, except that it started to rain again!! And hard, we basically were walking through rivers… the roads get filled up so bad! It was a rough night haha.
Friday Today we got up and left with the catholic nun, we tried to teach her a little bit, but she is kind of weird, kind of rejects us and loves us haha! But then we had to go to the internet to take a survey and that went pretty good, it went by quick but the internet was so bad. We then left and visited a couple investigators and taught them about the gospel of jesus christ! It went really good and the spirit was so strong, I just love when the spirit is strong because you can feel it present and its just amazing! We then went with some members after and shared some spiritual thoughts with them and that went great!
Saturday We got up and went to a suprise district meeting that came up last night, we went and talked a lot, about good stuff, that we aren't going for numbers we are going for converts and that's all we want! We then came back and missed lunch because we were late, later we left with one of my fav members, he was the one that started the church here in nahuala, he is this old grandpa that thinks he is the best! Haha
But we helped him move things around in his house!
Sunday Today we got up and went to church, it was so cool, to see some converts pass the sacrament for the first time, I just love that. We then went to lunch and got to talk with our bishop about a lot of stuff! We then got to video our families, I videoed mine for the first time since christmas….. Sorrry mom….. I will start doing it more now, but it went really great! And Happy mothers day to one of the bestest moms ever!!! She has done so much for me and I dont know where I would be without her!!! Love you mom!!! I then got to watch my comp talk to his family, and he gave his testimony in english because he's about to go home, but that was really good and the spirit was so strong in that room!
Overall this week, was really fun!!! It rained liked crazy this week, I wish you guys could see because its like hurricane rains!!! Its so crazy, and we just get soaked head to toe, doesn't matter if we are wearing boots, and jackets and everything, you can't avoid it haha, I hope all you guys had a great week!! Miss and love you all! Sorry no fotos, ill get them next week!!

Week 1: Buzz Cut

Josh's 1st Week Email Wednesday:  A lot of missionaries were on my flight.  The flight was pretty amazing, the sunset was awesome.  When we arrived in Guatemala, we had to take a bus to the MTC and the traffic here is crazy.  It makes Utah look like nothing!  Guatemala is beautiful and so colorful.  We arrived in the morning, we did not get to sleep that much.  We had interviews, room checks, and identification checks.  Before we got our picture taken, they grabbed some of us and went to a room.  We went in and basically had to get a buzz cut.  I'm still kind of mad about that as well as others, but oh well.  We then had lessons for Spanish all day and a workshop at the end on rules.  I learned as much Spanish in a couple hours then I did in 6 months at school.  Food here is really good, lots of variety and fruit with every meal.  I got my companion who is Elder Money. Extras / Week 5 #ProofOfLife

There's not a lot of extra information, Josh's big email was the best we've seen yet.  Apparently he borrowed someone's Alphasmart and had the email ready so was able to send a few more personal emails this week.  Again, Hermano Mario Gomez is the real MVP sending me some pictures of our boy since the missionaries aren't allowed to take/send pictures while in the training center.  This teacher/friend of Josh's is coming to visit Utah in December and has never been to the United States.  We want to meet up with him! Josh was told he can't send mail back home, but I think it's just at the CCM.  The Mission On The Fly people will take packages home that and allow us to pay the shipping so no out of pocket for the missionaries.  Josh wants to send Guatemalan ties back for the deacons/young men. He had a blowout in one of his basketball shoes that has soles with air pocket things and now it's lopsided. He says his companion reminds him a little o

Extras: Week 11

Dogs are everywhere! I have seen people whip dogs with belts, dogs get hit by cars, dogs kill other dogs, little grandmas kicking the crap out of dogs. It's sad. Lots of puppies that die, because they don't have shelter or food. I hate that. People here just breastfeed in the opening and there have been times where they just breastfeed during our lessons and its okay for that here haha. Then they forget that its out, ugh, it's really uncomfortable. I saw someone roasting a cat…. That was horrible. I have seen people hit by cars, the traffic here is crazy, I would not want to drive here. When we up to that mountain the first time, I was with Elder Johns and we rode on top of the van to the mountain, then after in the city we were on a van, just holding on to the top and and our feet in the van.The vans and buses here, don't really stop you just kind of hop in and then pay as they are driving then hop out when you want, but there are so many motorcycles her
