Dog Named Leukemia - Nahuala






Monday-Today we got up and left for Xela, we got there and played soccer for about 2 hours with our zone, it went really good, all the skills I have been teaching my companion, has been working for him! We then went bowling after and that was really fun, we played pool after and no one could beat my comp and I haha. Later we went to Mcdonalds to get lunch and uughh so so good!! We then went to the doctor for my comp cause his back has been hurting him. Anyways I saw a scale, and I haven't weighed myself since I left to my mission. Anyways not gonna say how much I weigh haha. We then took a bus back to NAhuala and we got to write our families for a bit then went back to our house studied for a bit.
Tuesday- We got up and left to San Cristobal for our district meeting, it went really good, I learned a lot, and a new thing we are doing at the end is that the leader calls two people up to share their testimony in english, its really cool to see the latinos learn and try there english out. Now they know how we felt when we first got here!! After we came back and had lunch then we went and visited with a couple of investigators that we have and they weren't home, so we knocked on a couple of doors and got some contacts, then we met with some members later in the night!
Wednesday- So we got a call from this lady in the morning, because her husband is in jail but in the states, anyways we went over to translate for them, because they dont know whats going on and we talked with some people on the phone to help get info about him, so that went good haha. We then met with some youth after and talked about activities we were going to do coming up, then we went to watch our investigator play a little basketball and contacted some of his friends, it went really well. Later we visited with these members who helped us teach some investigators and that was really good because I could understand a lot and it was all in Quiche!
Thursday Today we got up and got our planning done for the next week, and planned for some of our investigators. It went really good and then we visited with some members before lunch. LAter we helped do some service with this lady in the street, we helped her bring wood to her house chapin style haha. Anyways we then contacted her and got her number and day to pass by, we then went with our investigator Coity and we got permission to play a little ball with him, we played some basketball with him for a little and it was really fun, we taught him a lesson after and it went really good, he really liked it and said he would come to church with us.
Friday Today we got up and went to the buses, and we went to 4 caminos, and met up with our zone leaders and we had divisions, so I got to go with Elder Chavez, he is from Nicaragua, he is pretty cool, really cool missionary and fun to be with! We got to his area in Toto called Chiyax and worked a ton, we went with a lot of members and got references and met with some investigators they had, I met this guy that baptized a ton of people in the ward Im in right now and it was really cool!! There house in Toto is not the best but it worked out haha. We talked a lot at night and then went to sleep.
Saturday Today we got up and made breakfast and then had our studies, later we left to 4 caminos again to change our comps, we got there and I got back with my companion, we then went to lunch at the church and they had this little activity, that went really well. After this lady asked if we can be in the choir for tomorrow, we were like sure, and then she gave us both solo parts to sing in english!!!! I wasn't happy, but whatever Ill do it haha, but we practiced for a bit and we will sing tomorrow!! After we found this kid in the streets, he needed a gringo because for his class he needed to talk to someone from a country that speaks english, it went well and he talked really good english, after we contacted him and have a cita with him. Later we visited with this member and invited her again to church, it went great!
Sunday Today we got up mand went to church, we had to sing the solos, lets just say we were really nervous and it was not the best but everybody after said it was awesome haha!! But I have no idea, it was so scary, #neveragain!!! But after we visited with a ton of members cause all of our citas fell so yeah, but its all good.
This week was fun and worked a lot!!! Miss and love you guys so much!!! Till next week!!!!

Week 1: Buzz Cut

Josh's 1st Week Email Wednesday:  A lot of missionaries were on my flight.  The flight was pretty amazing, the sunset was awesome.  When we arrived in Guatemala, we had to take a bus to the MTC and the traffic here is crazy.  It makes Utah look like nothing!  Guatemala is beautiful and so colorful.  We arrived in the morning, we did not get to sleep that much.  We had interviews, room checks, and identification checks.  Before we got our picture taken, they grabbed some of us and went to a room.  We went in and basically had to get a buzz cut.  I'm still kind of mad about that as well as others, but oh well.  We then had lessons for Spanish all day and a workshop at the end on rules.  I learned as much Spanish in a couple hours then I did in 6 months at school.  Food here is really good, lots of variety and fruit with every meal.  I got my companion who is Elder Money. Extras / Week 5 #ProofOfLife

There's not a lot of extra information, Josh's big email was the best we've seen yet.  Apparently he borrowed someone's Alphasmart and had the email ready so was able to send a few more personal emails this week.  Again, Hermano Mario Gomez is the real MVP sending me some pictures of our boy since the missionaries aren't allowed to take/send pictures while in the training center.  This teacher/friend of Josh's is coming to visit Utah in December and has never been to the United States.  We want to meet up with him! Josh was told he can't send mail back home, but I think it's just at the CCM.  The Mission On The Fly people will take packages home that and allow us to pay the shipping so no out of pocket for the missionaries.  Josh wants to send Guatemalan ties back for the deacons/young men. Extras: Week 11

Dogs are everywhere! I have seen people whip dogs with belts, dogs get hit by cars, dogs kill other dogs, little grandmas kicking the crap out of dogs. It's sad. Lots of puppies that die, because they don't have shelter or food. I hate that. People here just breastfeed in the opening and there have been times where they just breastfeed during our lessons and its okay for that here haha. Then they forget that its out, ugh, it's really uncomfortable. I saw someone roasting a cat…. That was horrible. I have seen people hit by cars, the traffic here is crazy, I would not want to drive here. When we up to that mountain the first time, I was with Elder Johns and we rode on top of the van to the mountain, then after in the city we were on a van, just holding on to the top and and our feet in the van.The vans and buses here, don't really stop you just kind of hop in and then pay as they are driving then hop out when you want, but there are so many motorcycles her
