Week 32: Earthquake and a War
Monday -Today we got up and had a little time, so our President on P day has us read Joseph Smith History, the whole thing and then fill out this evaluation of the week and obedience. But after we went and got our haircuts and then we bought some food. We then went to a pizza restaurant with our Zone leaders and after we wrote our families. After that we played some soccer and basketball with some of the members, later we went and visited some members and shared some spiritual thoughts with them, it went good!
Tuesday- today we got up and it was freezing!!! But we had our District meeting and that went really good, we talked about some challenges that were happening in our areas, and we helped each other figure out what to do! We then had lunch with the bishop, he always trys to teach me Quiche haha, but it went good, he made some stir fry for us and it was really good. We then visited with an investigator but she didn't really take the lesson really well, she kind of denied us and it was hard but we have another Appt with her and we will see what happens. Later we visited with this other investigator and she is having lots of problems with her husband, we shared about faith and how it will help her, she will probably move away, but she thanked us a lot. It got so cold tonight, like freezing!! We left and visited with this member that has been drinking a lot, we shared a lot with him, and how he can change his life, and we will always be there for him, he thanked us and wants to start changing! But then we went to this house in the mountains, it's a family of all girls because most of the husbands left to go other places, they don't really have a whole lot, we sat next to their fire, and gave them a lesson about having faith and following christ, they only speak Quiche so it was kind of hard, but my comp helped them understand a lot, they gave us a drink that I don't know what was in it, but it was good. So these past couple days, things have been happening here, and not good things, lots of problems, anyways the sisters kept telling us something is gonna happen tomorrow, and we were really sketched haha, then some members called and said that we should buy food for 72 hours, we went out and bought some food, and called our president with our zone leaders and he didn't respond, later in the night he called and said that we need to stay in our house until 3 in the afternoon tomorrow, and he will get back to us if we can leave, but yeah… crazy night!
Wednesday- today we got up and found out the news from our zone leaders because president called really late, we just studied a little bit, then we did some exercises, then we all made breakfast together, I made some French Toast, my comp made some eggs, the others made pancakes and beans, it was a big breakfast and we cleaned our cooking room too haha, but it went really good, it sucks that we have to stay in here, we got ready and went out to lunch, with a member, but our president called and told us to get back and stay in the house as soon as possible, so we did and he said we needed to stay in the house all day, we read our scriptures we studied, then we all talked about our missions and we had our studies all together, and then we made some dinner and then got ready for bed, wasn't the best day..
Thursday- Today we got up and got ready, we had our weekly planning then, we then got ready went to lunch, had this amazing soup, we then left with this guy to do some service, we dug holes out for a fence, then we went up into the mountains to teach some investigators, it was so cold up there, we didn't find anyone, none were home, we came back down and visited with our Mission Leader, we met one of his cousins, introduced ourselves and got a lessoned planned with him.
Friday -Today we got up and got all ready we had our study times in the morning, and then we went to lunch and the lady lives really far, she gave us a bowl the size of my hand with rice and a tiny bit of beans, then a little play teacup of juice, I felt so bad… cause thats all she really had, we were so thankful, we then left and helped this member get his room ready to paint, we then left and visited with this family that had a daughter die recently, that was really hard, they were really sad but knew they would see her again, we shared a thought with them. Later we visited with this investigator we have, Ana, and she has a son in the states and a son here, but the son here is a drunk, and only comes home to sleep and eat, she is like really disappointed in him, but he´s 17! He came in when we were talking to her and helped take care of him and he said he wants to change his life around so, we are going to help him and her!! Great Family. We then visited this guy in the mountains and shared a thought about hope and gave him a blessing of health because he is really sick!
Saturday Today we got up and we left to cosechar, we found a lot of great positive people that we will continue teaching to see how it goes, but we then had lunch and she gave us some really good soup, we came back home and started our fast, then we went out to visit a few members, there is this guy named Alex, He is african american and really tall, he is from North Carolina but it down here for his work, but we visited with him and help strengthen his faith. It went really good, the spirit was really strong!
But this week was a week full of adventures and I'm loving it out here, the spirit is strong with me and I'm learning so much, miss and love all you guys have a great week!!!

Follow up on the "not good things, something happening, not good things" mention. I kept pressing Josh and he didn't want to say, but I told him my imagination may be worse than actual facts. He finally said: "It was a war, between our city and other cities, we just had to stay inside haha, thats all Im going to say"
I asked him if he felt the earthquake: "we felt the earthquake it was for like 30 seconds and we were in the house and it was shaking like crazy, it was so cool haha, but we are all good"
