Week 26: Talent Show

Monday- Today we woke up early, we met up with all the missionaries of our zone, then we met with some members, went to this really nice Soccer Fields, it was so much fun to run, and play! Running makes me feel so much better and it just is amazing! Then we came home, got changed, then went to McDonalds with everyone in our zone! It was really fun, there is a missionary of my group that moved into our zone and I got to visit him all day! We then wrote our parents and lader we had some Noche De Hogares!
Tuesday- Today We got up and we left to our District meeting, and this meeting was special because our President gave us permission to plan our Act for the Talent show in the Multi-Zona, so we planned it and it went really good! AFter we had lunch together then we left and visited with some really good people. This one kid seems really interested and we can't wait to work with him. We then visited with some Families and it went really good we shared about having the spirit of Navidad.
Wednesday- Today we got up early and left to buy a few things for our act today. We arrived at the Multi-Zona, the President and his Wife gave a really great spiritual talk, then he showed us a music Video of Pentatonix and it was amazing haha!! WE then got changed into P day clothes, we played a ton of games, like Shark and Minos, musical chairs and a bunch of games like that. Later we had lunch and had some really good turkey and mashed potatoes. Later we exchanged gifts with everybody and it went really good, I got some new ties! Haha We then had our Talent Show, there was some really good districts that had good things, we went and my comp and I did some funny magic, then our Zone Leaders danced, and our hermanas sang, in the end we sang Come Thou Fount Of and it went really good, we had to do like Acapella because the power has been out the whole day!! IT went really good and made our president cry. We then got our christmas packages and left and we visited with a family and it went really good, they were so happy for us to be there!!
Thursday- Today we got up and we had our weekly planning session then we went to lunch with Hermana Mimi who lives above us. We then went and tried to visit like 10 people and they all were not home!! We then visited with this family that is really in active and I had a really good visit with them, the spirit was really strong!! We then had a meeting with our leaders of the mission work, and after we played soccer for a little with our investigators!! Then we left and visited with this new returned missionary!
Friday- Today we got up and I got in the shower, and when I was showering the water went out and there was no water, I was covered in soap, and had to wait for my comp to call the lady above us, she wasn't answering, I waited forever, then finally just used some water bottles I had in the fridge to rinse off.. Not the best morning but then we left to visit our recent converts in this place really far!! WE then went to lunch and the Hermano told us tons of stories about his mission, and then we had a lesson with this lady that works there, it went really great the spirit was so strong and we invited her to be baptized if she receives a answer and she said yes! So we just need to keep teaching her!! WE then visited with this family and it went really good, we talked about hope and it was great!! Later we had a noche de hogar with this family that hasnt had the missionaries over for years, it went really good and they were so thankful we came over!!
Saturday -Today I woke up and we got ready, then we left to visit this non active family and we met with them but the mom of the family went off on us, because something happened at church a long time ago, that really bothered her and that's why they don't go to church anymore, but we calmed her down, taught her about eternal families and other things of faith, we then invited them to a special Sacrament meeting tomorrow for navidad, and she said she would go, we both bore testimonies and the spirit was really strong!! We then to lunch with the bishop and it went really good!!We then went and did some service for this hermana in our ward, later we visited with this family that is not members and invited them to the meeting tomorrow, we are going to pick them up in the morning.
Sunday- so we got up today and went to get the family, church started at 10 today because of a special meeting for christmas, we picked them up and walked to church, they are evangelists, but they said they wanted to come. It was the mom and the two daughters, we got to the chapel, and entered. The mom is really old and she kept telling all these little kids to be quiet, but it was like she was yelling at them, my comp and I were like oh well, then later when messages were being shared, the bishop was sharing, and she stood up and was like Buenas Diaz Hermanos, and tried talking and my comp and I were like Hermana!! She sat down, then asked if she could share a scripture from the bible after the bishop, we were like you can't, but you can share it with the bishop after its over. When we visited she visited with the bishop and we went and contacted a few new people, later we couldn't find her, then we found her waiting for a bus, we asked how it went for her. She said [I{m never coming back here ever again, because the bishop wouldn't let me share to everyone and the little kids weren't quiet… So yeah that is an experience i'll have forever!! Haha but church went good and then we had lunch with a family! Later we visited this family and had a really good spiritual thought with them and they all shared their testimonies and were crying!! Then we visited with the bishop and he gave us some tamales and we talked for a bit with him.
Today this morning we had a breakfast with our district and made different stuff from our countries, it was really good!!
Im having so much fun out here, and sharing the gospel and helping
People out is amazing. I love doing service, every time we someone in need, we go help them and teaching the people is awesome, and watching them come converted. The thing I love sharing is about eternal families, because it is just amazing that we can be with our families forever and ever!! When people here that, it changes their perspective a lot!! I hope all you are doing well, and have a great christmas!! Merry Christmas!!! I can't wait to see my family and hope you guys have a great week!!

Week 1: Buzz Cut

Josh's 1st Week Email Wednesday:  A lot of missionaries were on my flight.  The flight was pretty amazing, the sunset was awesome.  When we arrived in Guatemala, we had to take a bus to the MTC and the traffic here is crazy.  It makes Utah look like nothing!  Guatemala is beautiful and so colorful.  We arrived in the morning, we did not get to sleep that much.  We had interviews, room checks, and identification checks.  Before we got our picture taken, they grabbed some of us and went to a room.  We went in and basically had to get a buzz cut.  I'm still kind of mad about that as well as others, but oh well.  We then had lessons for Spanish all day and a workshop at the end on rules.  I learned as much Spanish in a couple hours then I did in 6 months at school.  Food here is really good, lots of variety and fruit with every meal.  I got my companion who is Elder Money. Extras / Week 5 #ProofOfLife

There's not a lot of extra information, Josh's big email was the best we've seen yet.  Apparently he borrowed someone's Alphasmart and had the email ready so was able to send a few more personal emails this week.  Again, Hermano Mario Gomez is the real MVP sending me some pictures of our boy since the missionaries aren't allowed to take/send pictures while in the training center.  This teacher/friend of Josh's is coming to visit Utah in December and has never been to the United States.  We want to meet up with him! Josh was told he can't send mail back home, but I think it's just at the CCM.  The Mission On The Fly people will take packages home that and allow us to pay the shipping so no out of pocket for the missionaries.  Josh wants to send Guatemalan ties back for the deacons/young men. Extras: Week 11

Dogs are everywhere! I have seen people whip dogs with belts, dogs get hit by cars, dogs kill other dogs, little grandmas kicking the crap out of dogs. It's sad. Lots of puppies that die, because they don't have shelter or food. I hate that. People here just breastfeed in the opening and there have been times where they just breastfeed during our lessons and its okay for that here haha. Then they forget that its out, ugh, it's really uncomfortable. I saw someone roasting a cat…. That was horrible. I have seen people hit by cars, the traffic here is crazy, I would not want to drive here. When we up to that mountain the first time, I was with Elder Johns and we rode on top of the van to the mountain, then after in the city we were on a van, just holding on to the top and and our feet in the van.The vans and buses here, don't really stop you just kind of hop in and then pay as they are driving then hop out when you want, but there are so many motorcycles her
