Week 25: Zaculeu

Monday- Today we got up and we got ready, we went to drop off our laundry, then we met up with everyone in our zone in centro, we then took a bus to the Zachelu Ruins, it was awesome again for the 2nd time! I love it, this time was really peaceful because there wasn't a lot of people, but it was really fun. We then went to a chinese Restaurant for lunch and ohh it was so good, but a lot of food!! We then wrote our parents and after we had a family home evening with a family, after they had a christmas activity at the church, it went really good a lot of people showed up, they had a spiritual Message, a clown, Pinadas, and dancing, we had to leave early though… But it was a great day!!
Tuesday -Today I got up and got all ready and started studying, my comp was really sick, I helped him a lot and took care of him haha, but later in the day we had to leave because we had important appts, we had a visit with a new investigator and it went really good! Then we went to Paula{s house and the zone leaders, interviewed them but Yensi wasn't there!! So we have to come back tomorrow! After we visited a little bit with her, then we went to a Noche de Hogar, it went really good I taught the whole lesson and felt really good about it, they understood and then we had dinner with them! And contacted 4 people!
Wednesday- Today we woke up and we got ready, we then visited a lot of people today, we also got Yensi Interview done, and we helped the Dad with a little bit of service. Later we then visited with a really good family, we had a great lesson and the spirit was really strong, we taught about the Plan of Salvation.
Thursday- Today we had our Weekly planning, it went really good, we got a lot of positive people coming. We then left and we met with these two young kids and we taught them The gospel of Jesus Christ, it went really good. Later we helped this Hermana clean her house a little and then taught her a little bit. Later we went to the church and had a meeting with our leaders and are getting everything ready for this saturday for the baptisms.
Friday- Today we got up and met up with the Zone Leaders in Centro)a central park= we then payed the house of the ward La Vina, so we over two wards now and have to work with both. WE then hiked out to Paula, dropped off some invitations we made, then we visited a little bit with her, she is so ready and her kids also! Later in the night we visited a few families and then we had a Noche de Hogar with this family, they have the cutest little baby, I shared a message and then we watched a video about christmas, it went really good and the spirit was really really strong!
Saturday -Today is the day!! We got up and got ready, went to the church to fill the font and clean and get everything ready! We then met with a new family, they seemed kind of interested and kind of not haha, but we have another appt with them later in the week! We then had lunch with the bishop, got the last minute things ready, the baptism was at 6 and Paula called us at 530 and said the dress didn't fit her!! We called the Zone Leaders and we ran to get another suit, there was a party going on in centro and it was like a market, and these markets, there is a billion little shops, and millions of people, my companion and I ran through it!! It felt like a Jason Bourne or Mission Impossible movie, it was fun though! We got back to the church and started! The church doesn't have a heater for the water, and the water was freezing cold, poor family. We finished they were baptized, I got to baptized Yensi and my comp and the bishop, baptized the others! It was such a great experience, to be able to baptize this family!! The bishop of the other ward called us and asked if we could talk in church tomorrow!! Tonight we prepared our talks for- tomorrow!
Sunday -Today we woke up and went to church, our family was confirmed, and then we got to hear a testimony of a missionary that just got back! It was really good, we then went to classes, and later went to the Sacrament meeting of the other ward, we gave our talks and it went really good, I talked about how we can share the gospel and feel the spirit of Christmas! I'm getting better and better every time I speak! Later we had some lunch, then later we had a noche de hogar with two returned missionaries and their family, they had 4 references for us and we had a great message shared by me haha, but it went really good and then we had dinner and they made food from paraguay and Nicaragua!! It was really good and fun to try new food!! From paraguay, it was this rice but with other things in it, i'm not sure. And from Nicaragua, it was this meat with a different kind of rice. Really good though!
So we got to play soccer this morning with the missionaries of our zone and some members! It was really fun!!
I am having a blast out here, and baptizing this family this weekend was a experience I will never forget! This next week we have a lot of fun things planned! But I'm serving the lord everyday and trying to better myself everyday! A scripture I want to share is John 13: 34 -35, these scriptures explains the love we should always have for one other! The way he has his love for us, he loves us so much and wants us to share this love with others! We need to love one another and share this gospel with one another,especially during this time of Christmas we have great opportunities to share or help people in need! I love you guys and miss you!! Week 1: Buzz Cut

Josh's 1st Week Email Wednesday:  A lot of missionaries were on my flight.  The flight was pretty amazing, the sunset was awesome.  When we arrived in Guatemala, we had to take a bus to the MTC and the traffic here is crazy.  It makes Utah look like nothing!  Guatemala is beautiful and so colorful.  We arrived in the morning, we did not get to sleep that much.  We had interviews, room checks, and identification checks.  Before we got our picture taken, they grabbed some of us and went to a room.  We went in and basically had to get a buzz cut.  I'm still kind of mad about that as well as others, but oh well.  We then had lessons for Spanish all day and a workshop at the end on rules.  I learned as much Spanish in a couple hours then I did in 6 months at school.  Food here is really good, lots of variety and fruit with every meal.  I got my companion who is Elder Money. Extras / Week 5 #ProofOfLife

There's not a lot of extra information, Josh's big email was the best we've seen yet.  Apparently he borrowed someone's Alphasmart and had the email ready so was able to send a few more personal emails this week.  Again, Hermano Mario Gomez is the real MVP sending me some pictures of our boy since the missionaries aren't allowed to take/send pictures while in the training center.  This teacher/friend of Josh's is coming to visit Utah in December and has never been to the United States.  We want to meet up with him! Josh was told he can't send mail back home, but I think it's just at the CCM.  The Mission On The Fly people will take packages home that and allow us to pay the shipping so no out of pocket for the missionaries.  Josh wants to send Guatemalan ties back for the deacons/young men. Extras: Week 11

Dogs are everywhere! I have seen people whip dogs with belts, dogs get hit by cars, dogs kill other dogs, little grandmas kicking the crap out of dogs. It's sad. Lots of puppies that die, because they don't have shelter or food. I hate that. People here just breastfeed in the opening and there have been times where they just breastfeed during our lessons and its okay for that here haha. Then they forget that its out, ugh, it's really uncomfortable. I saw someone roasting a cat…. That was horrible. I have seen people hit by cars, the traffic here is crazy, I would not want to drive here. When we up to that mountain the first time, I was with Elder Johns and we rode on top of the van to the mountain, then after in the city we were on a van, just holding on to the top and and our feet in the van.The vans and buses here, don't really stop you just kind of hop in and then pay as they are driving then hop out when you want, but there are so many motorcycles her
