Week 23: Light the World


Monday-Today we got up and we took our clothes to get washed, then we left and went to Paiz and we just looked around some of the stores, we got some ice cream and bought food for the week. We then met with the Hermanas in this mall, we ate at taco bell with them. IT was really good, then we left to write our parents! That went by super fast!! But then we came back to our area and we did service for a member in our ward,after the service we went to Centro for another interview for my companion and after that we got to visit with some families for FHE and that went really good, the spirit was strong in each of the visits.
Tuesday- Today we got up and had to go to our district meeting with the other missionaries in our district. It went really good, we talked about really good things and goals that we have for this next week and month! After we went to lunch with this Sister, and she has her son coming home from his mission in 10 days!! Crazy!! She{s so happy, but made us some really good lunch and gave us a pomegranate, it was really good!! After we visited with some people and met some new families and people. It went really good, it's so cool to see the spirit work through us, like we both had a feeling to knock on this door and we met a family and they were interested!! But later in the night we got to play soccer with some of our investigators and the ward and that went really good and fun!!
Wednesday- Today we  got up and got ready, we then went out and visited some people and it went really good, we lost one of our baptisms because he is in the process of divorce and won't be able to marry his girlfriend until march so yeah.. But I'm happy for them, they have the cutest little baby! We then went to lunch and had this dish called  JOcan!! We then went and visited with Paola, so we are working with Light The World a lot, and for this saturday it is a day of service, we are going to build a house for her and her family!! After we went to this young girls house and met some of her friends, we watched meet the mormons again and it went really good, we got their numbers and they said we could come again and teach them!!
Thursday- Today we woke up and had our weekly planning for the next week, and it went really good. We visited a lot of people today and invited them to church and to do stuff for Light The World, it rained all day, and ohh it was so nice, we haven't had rain in forever!!
Friday -Today we woke up and we met up in centro, and we had divisions with the Las Flores, I got to go back to my area with Elder Morales. He was in my group when we came, so I know him a little bite, but I asked if he was ready because we had to walk a lot! We came back and left out for the mountains and visited a couple people, then we came back and had lunch with my )Family= haha, after we went way far for a visit and after had to walk 4’5 miles to another visit and we had a great lesson with them, the spirit was so strong and they could feel it too! Later in the night we came home and ordered this food called Tortilla Chichin oh it's so good, and since my comp was gone, I had to take the data from our whole district and pass it onto the Zone Leaders, I love doing that! We then talked all night and during the day!
Saturday- Today we woke up and met our district in the Central part, we got our Light The World shirts and went to each one of our service projects, some passed out clothes and shoes to a poorer part of the area, some helped clean houses, some picked garbage up, some helped give food to homeless and other families, but we came back and the Missionaries of Las Flores their service finished fast, so they came with us to ours, We went way far away and we built a house for one of our investigators with some of the ward members. We had to carry bags of cement on our backs up this hill and then we dug a lot of holes and we made cement and put Tin roofs on the house, it was a lot of hard work, but I loved it. Elder Laws) he is from utah and is like 6{6= but Him and I worked our butts off haha, but it was really fun and then we had lunch with them at a members house. We later went to a baptism in Tojqaz and my comp baptized the little girl and that went really good! They are the cutest little family! After we came back and visited with some families!
Sunday -Today we got up and got a ride from a member to go pick up some of our investigators, and 4 of them showed up!! But church went really good, we got our Light The World stuff setup and we are ready!!
Then we went to lunch and after we visited with some families. Then later we sang in a choir with some other missionaries for the Christmas Devocional, and then we got to watch the devocional and it was so awesome!! I loved it, we then came back and visited with some people and shared some stories with them!!
OVerall this week has been amazing and I'm loving it, I loved serving and hope my investigator likes her house, I can't wait to baptize them and keep working hard!! Im safe, and having fun and working as hard as I can!! Love and miss you guys!1 HAve a great week!!

Week 1: Buzz Cut

Josh's 1st Week Email Wednesday:  A lot of missionaries were on my flight.  The flight was pretty amazing, the sunset was awesome.  When we arrived in Guatemala, we had to take a bus to the MTC and the traffic here is crazy.  It makes Utah look like nothing!  Guatemala is beautiful and so colorful.  We arrived in the morning, we did not get to sleep that much.  We had interviews, room checks, and identification checks.  Before we got our picture taken, they grabbed some of us and went to a room.  We went in and basically had to get a buzz cut.  I'm still kind of mad about that as well as others, but oh well.  We then had lessons for Spanish all day and a workshop at the end on rules.  I learned as much Spanish in a couple hours then I did in 6 months at school.  Food here is really good, lots of variety and fruit with every meal.  I got my companion who is Elder Money. Extras / Week 5 #ProofOfLife

There's not a lot of extra information, Josh's big email was the best we've seen yet.  Apparently he borrowed someone's Alphasmart and had the email ready so was able to send a few more personal emails this week.  Again, Hermano Mario Gomez is the real MVP sending me some pictures of our boy since the missionaries aren't allowed to take/send pictures while in the training center.  This teacher/friend of Josh's is coming to visit Utah in December and has never been to the United States.  We want to meet up with him! Josh was told he can't send mail back home, but I think it's just at the CCM.  The Mission On The Fly people will take packages home that and allow us to pay the shipping so no out of pocket for the missionaries.  Josh wants to send Guatemalan ties back for the deacons/young men. Extras: Week 11

Dogs are everywhere! I have seen people whip dogs with belts, dogs get hit by cars, dogs kill other dogs, little grandmas kicking the crap out of dogs. It's sad. Lots of puppies that die, because they don't have shelter or food. I hate that. People here just breastfeed in the opening and there have been times where they just breastfeed during our lessons and its okay for that here haha. Then they forget that its out, ugh, it's really uncomfortable. I saw someone roasting a cat…. That was horrible. I have seen people hit by cars, the traffic here is crazy, I would not want to drive here. When we up to that mountain the first time, I was with Elder Johns and we rode on top of the van to the mountain, then after in the city we were on a van, just holding on to the top and and our feet in the van.The vans and buses here, don't really stop you just kind of hop in and then pay as they are driving then hop out when you want, but there are so many motorcycles her
