Week 12: Rain and Food (The latter is proof it's really Josh reporting)

Monday- We woke up today and I was supposed to make pancakes for us, but my companion got mad at me for doing something wrong, I guess, he gets mad when I do stuff that he is not used to doing or does it another way. I just try to be calm and don't worry about it. We then went to Paiz and bought food for the week, after we wrote our parents, then after that we visited with the family above us. Later we had dinner at the Mission Leader's house, and oh, they grilled horse meat for us, and it was really good. Then we came back to our house at the curfew and watched the Testaments.

Tuesday- We had our district meeting in the morning and that went really well. We only have one other pair of Elders and one other pair of Hermanas in our district, so it is pretty small haha. But after lunch we had divisions and we had to meet the Elders in Centro, but it was pouring and I mean pouring! This rain doesn't stop, even if you have boots, raincoats, and umbrella. I was soaked head to toe, and the roads were basically rivers! I have never seen so much rain in my life, haha. But we met them, and I was with Elder Norales again, and we traveled far for an appt, the appt was really good, he is a guy my age and we taught him the First lesson. It was cool to talk to him. After we went to other appts soaking wet haha. We then went back to his house and got out of our clothes, but I didn't bring any extra clothes because they would have gotten wet, but we were eating and my comp showed up. He told me to get dressed because we were leaving, something happened between the other Elders and we had to go back to our house, but our house was like 2 miles away, and it was raining again!! We got back to our house around 10 and the President thanked us and said he is going to give us chocolates, haha. But we got home, and showered because of the nasty water and I got to change!!

Wednesday- We got up and cleaned our house a little bit, but we had lunch at this sister's house and she made us some really really good soup, it is called sopa de espinaca. (Translation: Spinach Soup) It is really good. We then left to a family and it started pouring again just like yesterday! Again, we were soaked head to toe!! We visited with a new investigator and found out she is a member, haha. But she is Evangelica, so we are going to try to get more lessons with her. We then talked with the Bishop about things and my companion got a call that we might have changes this Tuesday, but he doesn't know. I kind of hope, but kind of don't because I love the people but we will see.

Thursday- We got up and traveled to an Area where the Assistants were and they had my package my mom sent me! We then came back and had lunch with a sister that made really good food, then we had apple pie and it was so good! After we had divisions and I went with Elder Principe, we traveled far and met with this young kid and he was very excited about Joseph Smith, he also asked if he joined, if he could eat meat haha. We said he could and he murmured under his breath "liar" haha, his pastor told him otherwise. But it was so hot all day!! We then crossed a river and Elder Principe just walked through it, I was trying not to get wet, so I jumped and only got one foot wet. We then ended divisions and me and my comp helped a family in our ward move houses the rest of the night, we then had pizza with them after!

Friday- We had our study time in the morning, then we had lunch at a sister's house, after lunch she showed us her son's ties and, wow, they are so cool. They are hand woven but you can only get them from a guy in Momos, so I'll have to see if I get to go there! We then met with other families and taught them Christlike Attributes. Our investigators today were not home or couldn't meet with us! Then it started to rain again and hard, we had to pick up our laundry and we took a bus, but got soaked still, haha. Our laundry was dry though! We then talked and had dinner with the Family above us!

Saturday- So today is the Day of Independence for Guatemala, it's like the Fourth of July! The whole day was chill, you could hear parties and people screaming, but where we were, it is was really chill. We got up and we were going to meet with Erick this morning, but he cancelled on us! But we met with some good families today and got two new investigators! Then, in the night, we met with the family above us, and we had tamales and talked with them the rest of the night!

Sunday- We got up and had church and then a meeting after and it took a long time, we were at the church from 8-1 haha. I learned a lot though. We then had lunch with a Hermana, and my companion's stomach was not doing well after, haha. We then met with really good families today. We taught attributes of Christ and it was really fun. We then visited with the Gonzalez Family and had dinner with them the rest of the night. So we might have cambios, the Zone Leader said that he believes everyone has cambios but we are not sure yet. (Translation: cambios = changes)
